PREGNANCY APPOINTMENT
LOCATION

WHAT TO EXPECT
At your initial appointment, you and your partner will complete a series of tasks together and answer questions about your relationship and experiences.
AT-HOME SURVEYS

10-15 minutes per day for 14 days

After you're initial appointment, we'll invite each partner to answer questions from home for 14 days following the appointment.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We are also interested in following up with you after the birth of your baby. One month after your child is born, you will complete an online survey from home.
6-MONTH APPOINTMENT
APPOINTMENT LENGTH
Approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from the comfort of your home

COMPENSATION
WHAT TO EXPECT
At 6 months, we will check in with you at home, just like we did at 1 month postpartum; however, we would also like to talk with you over the phone about how things have been going in your relationship with your partner after the new addition to your family.
1-YEAR APPOINTMENT

WHAT TO EXPECT
When your baby turns 1 year of age, you are invited to return to UNL's Burnett Hall to complete a series of play-based tasks with your child and answer some questions about how things have been going in your family. This helps us get a full snapshot of how your family has been growing and developing over the past year.
2-YEAR APPOINTMENT

The toddler years are an important time for development in a child's life. When your child is two years old, you are invited to return to Burnett Hall to complete tasks with your child and talk about your family and your relationship.
3.5-YEAR APPOINTMENT

Up to $100 per person ($200 total)
The preschool years are a time of rapid development and increasing independence and exploration. When your child turns three and a half years old, you are invited to return to Burnett Hall to complete interactive tasks with your child and talk about your family and relationships.

Up to $200 per family ($50 per person for the online survey, $100 for the lab appointment)
WHAT TO EXPECT
The later preschool years are a time of continued development and increasing independence, particularly as your child begins formal schooling. When your child turns five and a half years old, you are invited to complete a survey from home, and one parent is invited to return to Burnett Hall to talk about your family relationships while your child completes interactive tasks with one of our research assistants.
7-YEAR APPOINTMENT

The transition into grade school is an important stage of development for children as they experience increased autonomy and greater academic demands. When your child turns seven years old, you are invited to complete a survey from home about your family and your child’s experiences.
